The Hunter

The wolf sat there, he examined the navokha, looking them over, and decidng they wouldnt hurt him, he laid down.

Arkenfel and his wolves got to the trade station but didnt get to close, not wanting to disturb it and garner the attention of the entire force there. People tended to not like when he attacked outposts. He waited, shrouded near a road so that he could pounce and get any travelers not careful enough to hear the shallow breathing of the wolves or see the strange foot prints in the road.

The trading post was a small collection of warehouses, truck-stations, a short air-strip and landing pad, and loading docks. It was surrounded by concrete walls topped with chain-link and barbed wire fences, and the gate was guarded by Securion officers. A road led out from it towards the west, to the borders of Tryscar. The place seemed fairly busy for being so far out from the nation's major cities - employees bustled around inside, loading and sorting cargo for shipment and trade. It was one of Tryscar's many import/export stations, where they could receive and ship goods. Arkenfel wouldn't be noticed outside, since the entire station was fenced in, and it would be difficult to see over the walls.

A caravan could be seen coming down the road, with a patrol vehicle at the front and three large cargo vans following behind it. All the vehicles were unmarked, but they each carried a shipment of "products" - slaves - towards the trading station.

He had for this summoned a larger group of wolves, he had 20 with him now and they had positioned themselves on the sides of the road ready to pounce and attack the caravan. They would try to flip the patrol vans over which they had a good chance of doing due to numbers and thier size.

The sudden attack was unexpected, and the wolves that hit the last van in the line were able to topple it to the side. The other two vans screeched to a halt as the patrol vehicle wheeled around, pulling up alongside the road and stopping.

About half a dozen guards poured out from the vans with an assortment of handguns, shotguns, and assault rifles. They immediately took fire on the wolves. There were two agents in the patrol vehicle, Agent Markson and Agent Allen. Markson popped open the driver's side door after grabbing an assault rifle from the back and sending out a distress signal. He took cover behind the door and started firing at the strange beasts that were attacking.

"Hold your position! Kill these damned dogs!"

"What the hell is this?" One of the guards shouted back.

"Probably Atrum. Kill on sight!"

The wolves were incredibly fast and darted around dodging bullets, a few were hit and brought down, but that was few and far between They would land on anyone they could and automatically go for the throat trying to rip off the heads of thier victims. A disturbing demonic voice seemed as if on the wind around them "We speak not for the Kingdom of Atrum Veneficus. Not this time. This is for fun" Arkenfel and his wolf jumped out, his wolf went forward and attacked with the rest as he got off with his scythe and started hacking his way through the people, no wolves or Arkenfel attacked the slaves.

The reinforced armor on the van held out, and none of the slaves were able to escape yet. Some of the guards were brought down quickly, and some of them moved back to try and hold out against the attacking wolves. Markson immediately turned his aim towards Arkenfel, and went directly for the head. He fired, trying to hit him and take him out quickly.

A bullet hit arkenfel in the arm but that only seemed to encourage him even more and a smile appeared across his face as he laughed an insane laugh. His wolf looked at Markson and oriented all its efforts on him, charging at him with two other wolves. The other kept attack any guards they could as some went down and other kept going 14 wolves remained, but these were faster and stronger, as if each fallen wolf in the pack enraged the creatures.

Markson slammed the door against the wolf as it charged at him, and it gave him a moment to fire point-blank at the wolf. Some more guards fell, leaving four of them and two special agents.

When she charged a wolf it completely changed attentions and attack her, swiping at her with its large claws, trying to get her legs so she would be easier prey for decapitation. One other wolf fell when he shot it point blank but the other stayed focused on him as the others remained on the four guards trying to kill them. Arkenfel shot a blast of dark energy at the vehicle trying to shake the man out of it.

It quickly went around her, it took hits and it faltered but she would need to end the thing before it stopped. The others went down faster with guns because they went for they head, the sword would need to pierce through the bone like armor on the head first.

Markson moved in closer, trying to get a better shot at the closest wolf before it could get to him.

"We should have backup on the way! Just hold out! Kill these damn things!"

He pulled a grenade out of his jacket and it clicked as he chucked it into the air towards Arkenfel.

"Fire in the hole!"

Arkenfel ducked and made a blast of shadow radiated from around him pushing the blast away, It took out a few of the wolves but because of the re direction of the blast maybe it affected the guards at well. Arkenfel had the wolves swarm on lily and markson as he teleported to the guards and went to hack them apart with his scythe.

Along with Arkenfel's blast and the wolf attacks, the rest of the guards fell quickly. Only Lily and Markson remained.

"Damnit, we can't take them. It's not worth it! Get in the car!"

Markson started to move back towards the car, trying to get to cover so he could get inside.

Arkenfel pointed to Markson "The man! let the girl go!" The wolves swarmed Markson, trying to kill him and get him away from the car. Arkenfel began cutting heads off and piling them up for his wolves to pick up once they were done.

The wolf she stabbed at bucked violently pushing her away but didn't stop its attack on Markson, it was quite clear they were not giving up. One of them was going to live while the other died, or they were both going to die, Arkenfel just watched and laughed at the whole scenario.

Arkenfel sighed as 2 wolves went down "This doesnt help us in the least." He sent a shock wave from his hand and stood, emanating dark energy used to get into people's heads, make them scared, make them run. It is an incredibly high level spell, with a small chance of failure, but still a chance.

During that moment of intense fear he had created an illusion of himself there and blinked behind her, the bullet passed through the illusion dispelling it and he laughed as he kicked her hard in the back "How can you kill!" he blinked again and then kept doing it "WHAT YOU CAN FIND!?" By this time the wolves have probably finished with markson unless he had found a place to get away from them.

The spell took hold of Markson's mind, and he stumbled and tripped as he tried to get into the car. He struggled to get into the door and one of the wolves caught his leg, ripping him out and slamming him against the ground. He would fire off a few more shots and scream as the wolves began to descend upon him. They would be able to rip him apart, as he was vulnerable on the ground.

"NO! No!! Not like this!!" He reached out and shrieked for help.
