The Fall from Grace

Sonja, a failure in the eyes of the empire was being held in the maximum security section of a leviathan class floating fortress. She was being held there by a garrison of grey knights and they were planning on executing her in the morning The walls are plain and grey and she is being constantly watched by grey knights. If she was going to escape she would need to do it know when the guards were in less numbers. Her weapons would be down the hallway from her and five guards would be within ear shot.

Sonja waited through half the night before making her move, fatigue sets in during the late hours of the night and the guards would be less likely to notice her movements. She was unshackled and fairly unguarded for a Gene Angel, she was crouched as she crept quietly behind the locked door. Sonja pulled a pin from the garter on her left leg and began to pick the lock as silently as possible. it took only one try before the door unlocked and it creaked open, possibly alerting some of the weary guards. She strafed past the door and pressed her back against the wall of an empty hall and looked to see if the coast was clear.

A few of the guards would hear something but would dismiss it as the went about their shifts or went to go and switch out, they were tired. Little did Sonja realize down the path she was taking, the gene angel Tenin sat thinking about his life as usual. He would most definatly sense her when she began to move.

The path was clear for the moment but would not stay that way for long. She turned the corner and headed down the hallway, passing many doors and halls on the way, heading for the room where her weapon was stored. She could sense the magik the emanated within the sword and follow it to where it was hidden. The sword was bound to her and her to the sword, she always knew where it was and that would never change. Her blood bond with her weapon was stronger than that to her captives who made her, she was nothing to them. To her weapon she was life, she gave it life and she was it's life, it was given part of her soul bound forever to her.

No soldiers would notice her but tenin's ears perked for a second and he rose from his seat and sighed shaking his head "Cant i get any rest around here....Jeez Sonja cant you just wait till morning to do something stupid." He began walking to the room with her weapon which was about ten feet from him and he leaned against the wall, waiting for her.

Sonja approached the room slowly to avoid causing unneeded attention to herself. She would come around the corner and see Tenin, shocked, she backed away and glared at him.

"What are you doing here, Tenin?"

He looked at her and raised an eyebrow then shook his head "Im your warden, what do YOU THINK im doing here Sonja? Your trying to escape? Really? It seems pointless no matter where you go, Lux Lucis will find you.."

"I had not known you were in here. There's a chance on the outside, if I stay here I'll be killed because they deemed me as a failure. Why would I stay, why would I want to be destroyed when there is a way out? If I were destroyed in the eyes of the nation they would not search for me," her voice was distant and quiet. "They took us all from our families, our people, our nation and forced us to become their slaves and warriors. They were unable to warp my mind and make me forget my principals so they decide to rid themselves of me."

Tenin stepped toward her fast and glared at her "YOU THINK I DONT KNOW THAT!? you think that your the only gene angel who hates what we are doing? What we are? your not! But Lux Lucis will burn the world before they are done, and i'd rather live, a little bit longer. I have nothing else but what this place has and out there, you have nothing! I have nothing! you think anyone will accept you or take you in? Your Lux Lucis! Your Gene Angel! Your a saviour here and devil out there." He shook his head and in his eyes she could tell he was in pain "Make your pick."

Sonja was obviously irritated by his lack of faith.

"I am the only one willing to stand up for what I believe in!!! Gene angels that hate what we are made for, why we were made, if all would come together instead of accepting Lux Lucis' lies then they would fall easily before us. We are their key weapons against them, we are what shifts the tides of fate to their favor. I will not fight for them, I will stand against the tides if I must but its better than betraying myself and giving up on the world..." she paused and with remorse more than anger she spoke again, "...it's better than death. Stop me if you will, kill me, at least I will have done my part in saving the world I was born to from this fate."

He would begin to pull the quarter staff he uses as a weapon but he stopped and looked at the ground then shook his head opening the door to the weapons room "Get your sword, we're going to need it if you have any hope of seeing daylight."

Sonja stepped back and looked back at Tenin in confusion.

"What do you mean, "we"? I thought you were trying to stop me, was I mistaken?"

He smirked for a second "Im not so far gone as too hurt a friend, and im letting you go no place left for me here." He chuckled and smirked a sly devious smirk "Besides, i read the bible and the devil is a much more interesting character than the savior."

She approached her weapon slowly, watching Tenin, still not trusting his words completely. She grabbed the hilt and pulled the large sword from it's place and attached it to her back, readying it for battle.

" 'We' will have to fight our way out, by this time they will have noticed my absence. Move quickly, be prepared and don't get in my way, if you double cross me I will not hesitate to use this weapon against you."

He looked at her and began walking down the hallway "Better keep up then." He would shake his head "Get in YOUR way? Whose the senior gene angel? I wonder whyyyy" he would chuckle at her.

She came to the door and began down the hallway. Undoubtedly, the guards would have noticed her absence by now and they would be searching for her. The battle was about to begin, it was only a matter of time now before they were discovered.

The guards would indeed have noticed her absence and a couple of second later the alarm would sound and grey knight would be on alert, a group ran down that hallway at them but tenin intercepted them giving her chance to run the other way "GO! meet by the west entrance!" He was making short work of the grey knights but more kept coming.

Sonja hesitated for a moment then continued down the labyrinth of halls that lead to the west wing of the ship. She had her hand on the hilt of the sword and leaned down into fighting stance, prepared for the fight ahead.

A group of grey knights turned and charged her, spears out right ready to run her through and the ones behind them would begin to shoot from their caster pistols aiming at her legs.

Sonja drew her sword as she turned toward the walls at her side and lodged it and pulled herself off the ground to dodge the shots, launched herself from the wall, pulling the sword out as well, and came down to slash the Grey Knights. She landed on one knee, ready to deflect their attacks with her sword placed before her.

One of the grey knights was caught by her blade and fell quickly, dead bleeding in the hallway. The other wheeled on thier heels and slashed at her near all at once as the others continued to fire the caster pistols.

She's stayed down and blocked the grey knights blades as she was pushed back by the force of their hits. She was struck by some caster shots when this happened but pushed through it. She turned and jumped over the knights firing upon her and slashed at them at their backs then kicked at their legs from the ground to knock them off their guard.

The grey knights kept their attack up and were unrelenting. She killed a few of the ones shooting at her when she did that and knocked one off his footing and he feel quickly. They kept attacking though

Sonja blocked another attack from the closest Grey Knight attacking with a spear and then countered, slashing at him and quickly moving back out of range of the melee attackers. She turned towards the Grey Knights firing at her with pistols, dodging as many shots as possible as she closed the distance between them. She leapt at one of them, thrusting her sword towards his chest and then quickly turning again to prepare to block the incoming attackers.

The Grey Knight she slashed at was hit and he staggered backwards falling to the ground pushing the grey knights back slightly as she retreated from them. She wouldn't be hit by many because she was a gene angel and there fore her speed was incredible in battle, one or two would hit her and more than likely not cause much damage being only to stun. When she leapt at one and drove her sword into his chest he dropped her sword carving armor like butter as he fell to the ground blood pooling around him and the other 6 grey knight left attacked her still.
