Aleax shook his head "I cant trace it, i can just tell there are veins of the energy coursing through the entire area, whatever it is, its powerful"

"It is indeed powerful, what is your thoughts on the matter?" Israk asked.

"Orders are orders my Lord, I will continue until I find what we search for or perish along with it," Arasa said coldly, her stance toward Israk's lead was very uneasy. He had a tendency to be too compassionate and this lead to his own downfall, she did not see why Orphan would place him as commander.

Aleax looked at nicta and nicta nodded "We move forward as ordered by our perspective lords. If you wish to turn back do so, do it. We wont stop anyone." Aleax stood and walked a bit forward "Lets move then."

"This is not a matter of turning back however, proceeding without a plan would be a vital mistake. What is your take in the Situation Aleax, you seem to have more power than most here among you," Israk corrected respectively.

Aleax shrugged "I cant tell if its offended by our presence, all i know is it knows we are here. I suggest continuing on until we are closer and able to get a better sense of what it means or wants." he said still in a complete monotone voice.

Tiny, barely visible threads of light coursed through the caverns, as if the specks of dust flitting through the air were barely elluminated by a silvery, otherworldly glow. The whole feel of the place was eerie, like they were weaving through corridors of time.

The Cruorian anima might be familiar with this energy by now - depending on how long it had been in the caverns and the level of its intuition, it may have just been more aware than the humans of what dwelt within. If it would leave its fallen master, perhaps it could lead the humans further.

The soft streams of an underground river or a gentle waterfall sounded from somewhere below. Where there's water, there is usually a path further - they might decide to investigate and see if it led to anything.

"Move forward with caution, this power is not something we want to anger," Israk said as he continued forward. The Anima did know this feeling and began to move toward the group, it was still weak and moved very slowly as it glanced back to its master with a mournful look. It would remain a distance behind them, not being able to move quickly enough to gain ground.

Arkel moved through the labyrinth of corridors to reach a long hall that had collapsed in the years since its use. Arkel ducked below rubble then climbed over a heap of stone only to discover a room he never knew existed. He stood motionless for a moment with his hand on the hilt of his sword then proceeded slowly into it. It was above the hall, only visible now because of the caved roof that had once been its floor. There were corpses of Cruorian soldiers about this dark and narrow hallway, each bearing marks of thoses who had been "lost in action." Even Arkel, one of the most seasoned Cruor had to offer covered his mouth and nose from the stench of rotting flesh. After a long walk through heaps of rotting bodies, he saw a room lit by a red glow at the end of the tunnel. As he entered it the smell was worse than before, looking around he saw more dead laying along the walls. Across from the door was a alter from which blood flowed into a cell like the others.

None of the atrumite's found it important enough to follow the man who split off, they just followed along with the other cruorians. Except for Aleax who stayed behind the group walking with the injured anima, trying to make sure it was alright.

The natural cave passage led downwards, sloping around in a thin crevice. It appeared that a stream had run through here at one point. After a few hundred meters, the passage opened up slightly and hollowed out to a flat clearing. A stream ran down through the ceiling of the small cavern against the wall, gurgling down in a gentle, stony cascade into a hollow, about seventy-five feet below. The other tunnel ended here - this was where the two streams had met, perhaps centuries ago, before the one that they were following now had dried up.

The only way to continue through the passage was down the rocky, stepped waterfall. It would be dark, murky, and treacherous, yet it appeared to lead down to another section of the cavern. If they wished to proceed, they would have to find a safe way down.

Aleax walked forward "I can blink down and light the area so its safe if you would like?" He said as he lit a ball of black fire that floated around his fist. "It wouldnt be very difficult, i can see part of the bottom."

Israk moved to the edge of the steep cliff and peered down before turning to Aleax and nodding.

"That seems like the best course of action for this situation, but how do you suppose we get down if their are hostiles? "

The anima followed close behind Aleax, it seemed to have healed and regained some energy.

He sighed and thought for a second "I'm not quite sure...Is there any way we could climb down?" One of the other umbra guards shook their head "No look at the water fall, its made most of the cliff is covered in water and probably slippery and cannot be climbed."

Israk nodded.

"There doesn't seem to be a way down without swimming through it...and hoping their is enough water at the bottom to break our falls. Aleax, would you be able to blink a second time if things get rough?"

Aleax nodded "It wont be an issue, i have enough power to blink a few times in succession" He blinked down to the bottom with a small explosion of fire around him as he landed to try and scare any nearby enemies. He looked around using his night vision to try and see his surroundings.

If Aleax blinked successfully, he would be able to make contact with a protruding rock ledge below. It was dark, slippery, and jagged, but he would be able to hold his footing. There were no signs of any enemies nearby - the biggest enemy now was the terrain.

His surroundings would consist of another winding tunnel, spiraling down into darkness. The crashing stream of water behind him was louder now as it streaked and slipped against the rock crevice and fell down into the channel below. As everyone made it down onto the ledge through their various means of scaling down the waterfall, they would now be able to continue into the lower sections of the cave.

He looked around and sighed "This terrain will be incredibly treacherous, it slopes downward and its all slippery because of the waterfall."

Israk continued searching for a path down to the ledge, his eye searched the entire area without missing a crevice.

"I doubt anyone will be able to reach that ledge without breaking bones from this height," Israk said as he glanced down toward Aleax. "Light the tunnel, perhaps their is something we are not seeing."

The Anima followed Aleax until he blinked, when he did this the animal trotted at the edge of the cliff and leaped to another rock formation a little lower so it could see him.

A small flare of black flame appeared on each of his fingertips and he threw them out, each hitting on a part of a wall. They stuck to each wall and each one, lighting up and then became larger to light up a larger area so they can see the rest of the cave "I hope this is helpful.."

The cave continued on, the passage growing slightly larger as it flared towards what looked like...another cavern in the distance.

The sense of eeriness increased, as if they were intruding on something that shouldn't be disturbed. The air was thick and heavy here, as if one almost had to reach his hand in front of him to part the dense threads of moisture that clung from the stone tunnels. Anyone with a strong ability to sense magic would begin to feel uneasy...perhaps even a bit nauseous, like they were out-of-tune with their surroundings due to a strong source of energy nearby.

All the umbra guards looked worried and blinked down near Aleax to make sure they all would remain safe "Something isnt right" said Nicta "I feel uncomfortable....there is something powerful near by. Very strong."

The Blood Guard could not blink to the ledge. Shanoa approached the Anima who had jumped to a rock ledge just below. With the area lit, he could see a series of outcroppings that could reach the ledge.

"Hey, we can jump down from over here," she said as she continued to follow the Anima, and most of the Blood guard followed. However, Israk had already come up with his own method of decent. He drew his sword before stepping off the ledge and buried the blade into the rock below. He pulled himself up from the edge and ripped his blade from the rock. A short time later the rest of his group made it to the ledge with the Anima.

When Israk ripped his sword from the stone, a few chunks of it crumbled loosely beneath him and fell onto the ledge. Some of it came down in stony clusters, with a thick cloud of dust spitting out.

A few chips of a glassy sapphire-blue mineral-like substance clinked down onto the stone and settled near the edge of the waterfall. They shone brightly and emanated a faint aura of energy, even as tiny specks in the crumbled rock fragments and powdery dust.

The mineral would be unlike any other that they ever would've been familiar with. The energy it exuded was very, very faint, almost unnoticeable unless a seasoned magic user was holding it. They had a crystalline structure with a thick, glassy transparency. It appeared to be a part of the stone around it until it became compressed by some unseen force before it segmented and broke off.

Altogether, there were only three of the little flecks. They would easily flake and break apart, almost like shale.
