From the Ashes, to the Wind Empty From the Ashes, to the Wind

Arrakhesh decided that the shore would not be a suitable place to set up camp - there was no one in this new land he could trust besides his own people, he wanted a secure encampment, and he didn't want to risk being seen by any potentially hostile nations that could easily pick apart the few remaining forces he had left. After leaving a message for Reia and Sorac stating that he would be in contact, Arrakhesh and his men readied the ship and went further east up the coast to find a suitable place to land that was away from any other establishment or settlement.

After a few hours of exploration, Arrakhesh's ship crossed alongside a rocky, steep line of cliffs on the shore and a distant island chain nearby that looked completely untouched. He set his course for an island that was dotted with woodlands and mostly edged in hills and cliffs high enough to offer some protection and shield a small, new settlement from prying eyes. The ship was anchored in a small, wooded bay near a clearing where Arrakhesh planned to set up a camp for the night. Once the Kyanites reached shore, a small scouting party was sent out to examine the island.

The scouting party would see a wooded land that looked completely untouched besides some unusually large animals tracks. They were the size of a large dragon's tracks, wide with pads like a dog. All the while a shadows watched them, unseen and unheard they crept through the forest which was their home.

The scouting party noted the tracks, but decided that they were probably nothing more than large, strange animals that lived on this new and foreign continent. They reported back to Arrakhesh, stating that nothing was out of the ordinary and there were no signs of human settlement.

Arrakhesh gave the orders to continue, and the Kyanites began unloading the ships. They very quickly went about setting up tents and preparing a camp in the clearing. They began to tend to the wounded and established shelter. Arrakhesh watched everything, giving orders to ensure that his people would be safe and cared for properly.

The air grew cold as the wind ceased to flow, not a sound was heard from any of the animals in the forest. Still and quiet until a crashed to the ground in the distance. One, then another and so on until the trees on the edge of the clears fell to the ground, nearly killing the Kyanites. In the panic they might notice shadows surrounding them, large beast just within the treeline, watching and waiting. A large wolf would be standing where the trees had fallen, crouching down under the tree tops, she seemed only a few feet shorter.

The Kyanites pulled back towards the center of the clearing immediately, moving away from the trees as quickly as possible. A few of them were wounded by falling branches, but they all managed to make it away from the treeline and close enough to the shore to be safe from the collapsing trees. The soldiers began to take aim, behind cover of the ship and the few tents they had begun to place. They tried to hold the beasts back while the civilians were rushed back onto the ship, taking only what supplies they could carry.

"Form up and keep it back!"

"What the fuck is that thing?!"

Arrakhesh's voice boomed out over the chaos, ordering his soldiers to hold the beasts off while everyone else evacuated.

The wolf jumped over the Kyanites and separated them from their ships. Now standing upright, she seemed to be the size of a dragon. She stood She towered over Arrakhesh, the men would not be able to shoot her without injuring him. She would speak softly,

"I was informed of foreigners in my lands. I thought they would be disgusting barbarians, I never expected them to be as weak as this. Killing you would only be a waste of energy."

Arrakhesh signaled his men to stand down, and they held their fire.

"You speak?"

He stared up at the giant creature - he had never seen anything like it before in his life, and yet he was fearless even as it stood over him.

"I am Arrakhesh of Kyanon, from Spero. My people are here seeking refuge from war. We mean you no harm. If you will stand down and stop your attacks on my people, I can explain...or you can give us a chance to leave without any more trouble.".

Silently the shadows disappeared back into the forest. She stepped back from Arrakhesh, slowly kneeling down, her body began to change. It became smaller until it started to show humanistic features. First her body shrank, then her face looked to be human, then her body too. Her skin turned the pale tan color of human flesh and not a hair on her head was misplaced. She stayed back aways, knowing that the Kyanites would hold fear for her.

"You see, I am not a beast that thirsts for blood." She said as she slowly approached Arrakhesh.

The Kyanites were shocked at what they saw - none of them had ever witnessed such a thing. Some of them seem terrified, others seemed angry at the attack, and others simply seemed astonished at what they just saw.

Arrakhesh held his weapon down as the shapeshifting woman approached him slowly. He noticed a movement from one of the tents behind her out of the corner of his eye and realized what it was - one of his bodyguard units which had taken cover was going to take opportunity to move in and eliminate the 'threat' before it got to Arrakhesh. The soldier moved swiftly, closing in on the woman approaching Arrakhesh and drawing a handgun, reaching to aim it directly at her head and fire without hesitation.

In one swift and brutal motion, Arrakhesh gripped the man's wrist tightly and pinned it behind his back, forcing him down and disarming him before any harm could come to the woman, even though the soldier was only trying to protect his leader. "Fool - do not act without orders." He sent him back to wait with the others and then turned back towards the shapeshifting woman.

"Perhaps you can explain what it is that you are, then."

She turned, not shocked to see one of them trying to attack her. She smiled baring k9-like fangs as she walked toward him again.

"Your people don't seem to like me. I told you, I'm not a beast that thirsts for blood, I am a Shilain from the tribe of Amarok. We generally do not take kindly to strangers in our forest, there have been others surveying this land for a nation with a red and yellow symbol. We thought you were with them, they have killed some of my people and destroyed some of my forest. We would not have greeted you so harshly if they hadn't been here before you."

"We have just arrived. We have killed no one and destroyed no forests here. Kyanon has a red symbol, but we are not the nation that you're looking for. As I've said, we mean you no harm. We've only come seeking shelter, and we will leave if you don't wish to allow us here. What is your name?"

Post  New USSR Sun Oct 09, 2011 11:59 pm

On a ridge nearby a group of five H.K.G.B, the elite soldiers of the New USSR stood watching them. These new people looked like if given the chance to rebuild they could be a problem to thier expansion in the area. One radioed back to base and said "Scout odna komanda na bazu, novaya gruppa lyudyeĭ razbili lagerʹ na ostrove. My budem nablyudatʹ."

Scout team one to base, a new group of people has made camp on the island. We will observe.

She tilted her head a bit in confusion.

"Hah my name, no outsider has asked me my name but only saw my with fearing eyes. Some have thrown children at my feet hoping I would eat them as they ran away. I will grant your request, my name is Kesare." She looked up to the hills and glared at something in the distance then she looked back to Arrakhesh. "I have realized that you are not the ones who killed my people. I have nothing against you and your people staying here, that is, as long as you do not disturb my people." she stood silent and looked back to her people who were still within the treeline. They emerged silently from the woods and walked over the Kyanites toward the hills.

"They mean your people no harm, they are going to the hills. I have a request and you may refuse it if you like, it will not change anything if you do. Look to those hills," she said as the other wolves passed over his people then sprinted out of sight. "You see them, don't you? They are the ones who have killed my people. They want this land, they want to fill it with gray smoke like their lands. Would you consider helping me in ridding this land of them."

"Kesare...thank you. Your people will not be disturbed if we are allowed to stay here, I can assure you of that. I hope we can come to an understanding here."

One of Arrakhesh's elite Honor Guard soldiers noticed some movement and an unusual heat signature as he was scanning the area through his visor. He tried to get a closer look, and watched to see if the distant figures on the ridge were people...he alerted the other soldiers to it, and they saw it as well.

Arrakhesh considered Kesare's proposition for a moment. He wasn't looking to make any enemies, but it seemed to be in the best interest of his people to build the tribe's trust in them if they would be settling here. He had little choice other than to try and work towards an alliance.

"Yes, I'll help you. Consider us friends and allies now." He ordered ten of his men to go along with the shapeshifters of the Amarok tribe - one elite soldier, one officer, and eight infantry soldiers. They followed along behind them and awaited further orders.

The wolves picked up there pace when they noticed the the movement.

"Thank you for your help. Later tonight I'll show you and your people to our village as a means of making up for our rude meeting." She stepped away from him and turned back to her beast form. "I must be leaving now, my pack is on the move. If you like I could bring you with me."

Another two elite soldiers escorted Arrakhesh, following behind while he approached Kesare.

She crouched down so that she would not seem so intimidating.

"Stay with your people, best I not include you in this war yet. I warn you now that they will come to this place and when they do we will fight along side each other. Call your soldiers back for now and have them assist your people. You are few in number and need not lose any to a war that is not your own." She stood and stretched out her legs, baring her fangs to the hillside. "Tonight I will return to show any who would want to come the way to our camp."

"You are wise, honorable Kesare of the Shilain. I look forward to your return tonight."

Arrakhesh called off his men, and they returned to continue setting up the camp. He awaited Kesare to return later that night.
